MESH is surveying how COVID-19 is affecting the most vulnerable people across Somalia.

On 21 April 2020, a few weeks after the first case of COVID-19 was officially announced in Somalia, MESH started surveying people across the country to assess what they know of the virus and how they are protecting themselves, their families, and their communities.

MESH identified issues related to knowledge and behaviours as well as access to essential services and products such as healthcare, food, water, soap and protective coverings.

MESH expanded its analysis to include the impact on livelihoods/incomes, food security, access to healthcare, and socio-economic constraints associated with changing behaviours and attitudes.

MESH has surveyed over 5,000 vulnerable households across 50 districts.
